Competitive Multi-Swimmer Family Discount

Families with more than one Competitive Swimmer are eligible to receive a 10% discount for the second Swimmer and a 25% discount for a third or fourth Swimmer. This discount is applied in the form of a Meet Account credit.

Swim Meets

In September of each year all Competitive Swimmers will receive a schedule of Swim Meets for Short Course Events. In March of each year all Competitive Swimmers will receive a schedule of Swim Meets for Long Course Events.

These meets will also be posted on the website.  The schedule shows each Swim Meet and also shows a “Cancellation Date” for each Swim Meet.  As all Competitive Swimmers must attend three Swim Meets in each of the Short-Course and Long-Course seasons to remain in a Competitive Squad, all Competitive Swimmers are entered into each of the Swim Meets automatically.

Should you wish to Withdraw from a Swim Meet, you must send a communication via email to swimmeet@ncsaswim.ca to remove your swimmer from the meet prior to the Cancellation Date. Please also advise the Squad Coach.

Note: There is a Fee associated with each event in each Swim Meet in which your child participates; you will be advised of these Fees and you will be responsible for these Fees. These Fees will be charged to your “Swim Meet Account”.  There is also a Club Administration Fee of $5.00 for each meet in Alberta; $10.00 for meets outside Alberta.

Swim Meet Account

Fees for Swim Meets must be paid to the host club prior to the meet date. In order to facilitate this, NCSA will pay all fees in advance and debit your Swim Meet Account as required. The initial 2010/2011 “Swim Meet Account” cheque for $100.00 is to be dated 15 September, 2010. When the initial “Swim Meet Account” deposit is consumed, you will receive a statement showing all expenditures; at this time you will be asked to “top up” the Account again.

** This is not required if you are paying for the full season in advance.  The discount applied to your Swim Fees will automatically go to your meet account.  This deposit is also not required if you are a multi-swimmer family (Competitive only)

Volunteering and Committees

With the exception of Coaching and Bookkeeping responsibilities, all positions at this club are filled by volunteers like you. NCSA does not require parents of the I Can Swim (ICS) group to participate in Volunteering or Fundraising, although we would Welcome their participation.

NCSA requires all Families of Competitive Swimmers to be actively involved in a Committee. You may opt out of your commitment by Doubling your child’s monthly fees.

Getting your Family involved is a great way to meet and get to know other families in the club and learn more about the Sport of Swimming.  Please find a Committee that suits your talents, abilities or interests. If you are found to be Non-Active in any Committee and have not paid the Double Fee, your fees will be Doubled. There is no need for this and we do not want to do this. We require all Families of Competitive Swimmers to be active in all areas of NCSA to ensure a successful year.

Officiating

All families must have at least one Parent/Guardian qualified as an Official who will be required to Officiate at any meet for which your swimmer qualifies. The initial training is the Level 1 Officials Course – Timing (training courses are offered in September and May).  Parents are required to increase their Officiating levels as their swimmer advances and must take at least one course per year.

In most cases you will be officiating during the time your swimmer is in the pool; Volunteering to Officiate rewards you with the best seat in the house, right on the start - finish line. All “Officials” Training is free of charge at clinics held throughout the season.

Officiating at NCSA Hosted Meets: Volunteers Required

The Officiating requirement for Hosted Meets is one session per day of the meet.  For example:

Junior Circuit meets: 1 day = 2 sessions = 1 Officiating Requirement.

Timmermans and the Fall Invitational: 2 days = 4 sessions = 2 Officiating Requirements

Corral City: 3 days = 5 sessions = 3 Officiating Requirements.

Officiating at Non-Hosted Meets: Volunteers required

If your swimmer is swimming in a Non-Hosted Swim Meet, you are Required to Volunteer and if requested, Officiate for 1 session.

Fundraising Commitment (Earn Back): Cheques required.

Bottle Drives: Three cheques for $100.00 each, dated Oct. 31 2010, April 30, 2011, and June 15, 2011. All cheques will be shredded and securely disposed, if you participate in 3 out of 4 Bottle Drives.

Bottle Drives are an excellent opportunity for Swimmers and Parents to socialize and Raise Funds for the Club, thus reducing Swim Fees. All families of Competitive Swimmers are required to participate in a minimum of 3 of the 4 scheduled Bottle Drives. ICS families are not required to volunteer as their Swimmers are so young. We will welcome any ICS Parent who Volunteers, but do not Recommend their young Swimmers participate for safety reasons.

All parents or designated responsible adults of Competitive Swimmers are required to attend Bottle Drives with their Swimmers and to Supervise the swimmers participation in the event.  Families are Welcome to bring other children to help.  This arrangement helps to ensure that we have enough drivers and that the swimmers are actively and safely participating in the work.

In the event that the weather is unsuitable and participants’ safety might be compromised, NCSA reserves the right to re-schedule a Bottle Drive.

Dates for the Bottle Drives will be set at the beginning of the Short Course and Long Course Seasons.
