NCSA offers a variety of programs for both competitive and non-competitive swimmers. Our programs are designed to provide the opportunity for fitness, fun, travel and friendship. We offer a free week of swimming to your child to check out our team. During this time, our coaches will monitor your child's swimming skills and advise you as to what level your child should sign up for in our competitive or non-competitive programs.
Non-Competitive: Tiger Shark Swim School (Airdrie) & I Can Swim (Calgary) - Stage 1 to 3
(September - May)
I Can Swim (Airdrie) brochure I Can Swim (Calgary) brochure An Open Structured Approach
This program concentrates on teaching the skills that are specific to the sport of competitive swimming. The swimmers learn Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. They also become proficient in starts and turns.
This non-competitive program focuses on improving overall fitness levels and teaching children to become excellent swimmers. What a great way to be introduced to the sport of swimming!
These swimmers are offered two swim meets during the season, one in December and the other meet is in May. In the months that we don't have a swim meet, there will be race nights at the end of the month.
Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the dive tank (15m) unassisted.
Your swimmer will receive two report cards during the season. The first one comes out before Christmas, and the second one at the end of May.
Robin Hill is the "I CAN SWIM" administrator for Airdrie and Calgary.
Competitive: Platinum/Gold/Black/Silver/Purple/Bronze/Orange/White Squads
These are the programs that prepare the swimmers for competition. Training commitments range from the Stage 4 Squad at 3 hours/week, through to the Platinum Squads at approximately 15 hours per week.
Competitions take place on local, provincial and national levels depending on age and ability.
